Manja Kindt

Manja Kindt

Manja Kindt works with multimedia, mixed media, and spatial art. All these disciplines come together in installations, both indoors and outdoors. Her work has a modest nature, often incorporating materials sourced from nature to become part of her artworks.

Walking along the northern coast, always observing, she sees the ground as a kind of treasure trove—literally the foundation of her work. She collects washed-up objects, seaweed, cuttlefish bones, sea-worn glass bottoms, and driftwood, frequently using silt in her creations. She archives the found objects, giving them a place in The Archive of Lost Currents (video). Without exception, all her work can be traced back to Earthly Matters.

Manja studied art education and art history and continues to give etching workshops. In addition to numerous exhibitions and residencies, she co-founded Hidden Time (1998–2003) at the Gouda Museum with Jan Pieter van den Bos and later established Bierumer School (2016–2021) in Bierum.
