Club VHDG is a space within our program that creates opportunities to learn, grow, and connect, dedicated to young artists and cultural professionals. Consisting of a growing group of active artists, curators, writers, and producers, at the beginning of their careers, they form a community where they organize cultural events like workshops and presentations together; learning by doing and from each other. The Club self-manages itself, operating through the needs and ambitions of its current members, facilitated by a coordinator.
The Club is based on the following three pillars: inspiration, network, and self-organization.
In 2025 a new yearly program will be developed, consisting of a number of activities, such as field trips and site visits, feedback sessions, collective meals, reading groups, network borrels, group exhibitions, and club nights.
One Club, many possibilities
As part of the club, you are welcome to facilitate and organize the program activities, in collaboration with the club’s coordinator. If your interest lies in becoming part of the club’s community, you can join its activities as a participant, supporting the group and expanding each other’s knowledge and experiences.

What to expect once you join the club?
Inspiring monthly activities, such as field trips and site visits, feedback sessions, collective meals, reading groups, network borrels, group exhibitions, and club nights; mainly taking place in the headquarters of VHDG, located in the center of Leeuwarden.
Members of the club support each other and facilitate, together with the Club’s coordinator, the schedule of activities. It is therefore important that one can be physically present at its activities on a regular basis.
About VHDG Connect
VHDG Connect is our new yearly program that focuses on support, guidance, and the development of emerging artists. During 2025, a number of trajectories will be launched for diverse groups of (starting) artists based in the North of the Netherlands (Friesland, Groningen & Drenthe), establishing new networks for exchange, growth, inspiration, and support.
Through VHDG Connect we look to bring together current projects and trajectories, such as Club VHDG.
Residencies are shorter ‘commitment’ and the club is longer. One can apply for the residency program and/or for joining the club.
